Vet Anne M Taylor BVetMed MRCVS
Senior Veterinary Surgeon
Anne qualified from Royal Veterinary College London, in 1984. She likes
working as part of our excellent team here at Ewell, and is interested in
all aspects of small animal medicine, particularly investigating and treating
difficult cases, then achieving a successful outcome. Having been with us
for 15 years she would like to continue doing a good job at the practice.
She knows most of her patients (and their owners) rather well, and enjoys
helping the familiar faces that visit our surgery.
She is famous for her specialist work with guinea pigs and pet owners travel
from as far as the north of England and Cornwall for her expertise in this
field. Anne has also worked at the RSPCA Harmsworth Hospital in London.
Her interests outside of the veterinary world include riding her horse Crispin
and skiing.

Practice
Manager
Jayne Screech
Jayne began as a part time receptionist in 1995, taking on the role as Practice Manager in 1997. She works very hard behind the scenes to cover a multitude of tasks, which keep our surgeries running smoothly. Jayne's favourite part of her job is the variety as she feels that each day brings its own challenges and rewards. Her future goals are to continue to work as practice manager to support staff and clients in this role. Her four-year-old son Callum keeps her very busy at home and with another child expected very soon she has little time to spare for relaxation. However, when time is available she enjoys reading, theatre, gardening and walking.
Head Nurse Heather Bull VN
Joining us here at Ewell
as a student nurse in 1998, Heather initially studied and qualified in Sport
Science and rehabilitation from university. However with a keen interest
to work with animals, she decided to pursue a career as a veterinary nurse
and qualified from Farnborough College in 2001. She has been part of the
O'Meara team for ten years now and would like to become a vet. She has a
specific interest in radiology, orthopaedics and particularly enjoys anaesthetics,
stitch ups and bandaging. In the past her animal nursing duties have extended
to goats, wildlife and monkeys.
At home she has two cats and enjoys kickboxing, gym and all types of exercise.

Receptionist Jannine Pyke
We asked Jannine who
joined us in October 2006, what she enjoys most about her job? "Meeting
the clients with their pets and being the welcoming friendly face for all
that come through the door. I also enjoy the new challenges that every day
brings from working as a receptionist in a busy veterinary surgery".
So busy at work and at home too, as Jannine is married with two children
and also has four pets. Buddy a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, cats Barney
and Millie plus Honey the hamster. She enjoys walking Buddy, going to the
gym, socialising and loves shopping. Future goals at work at work are to
continue to improve the systems that are in place on reception.
Nurse Mandy Pitt VN
Mandy began her nursing career in 1999 at a mixed practice near her hometown of Portsmouth. During her five years at that surgery, she qualified as a Veterinary Nurse before relocating to join her partner in London, where she spent the next four years working at the Blue Cross Animal Hospital in Hammersmith. She joined our team here in August 2007 and bought with her a special interest in guinea pigs. She has owned many over the years, and presently her pet is 'Mr Jenkins' who she re-homed from Bobtails Rabbit and Guinea Pig rescue in Ewell. Outside of surgery life, Mandy enjoys socialising with family, friends and popping back to Portsmouth for a home visit.
Nurse Michelle Whitefoot VN
Qualifying from Berkshire
College of Agriculture in 2001, Veterinary Nurse Michelle has been a valued
member of our team for 12 years now. She finds her job extremely rewarding,
particularly nursing sick animals back to full health and the special care
of patients after operations. She also enjoys the vital teamwork when dealing
with emergencies and runs her own dental clinic. Michelle's spare time is
a little limited these days, as she became a new Mum in June 2008 when her
son Joshua was born. Her four cats keep her very busy too along with two
tortoises.
Nurse Nikki Guthrie VN
Nikki joined us in March 2008 but her career in caring for animals began long before that when as a child, she had two stick insects, two hamsters and two cockatiels! Now her pets are **four cats and a **horse. She is a Registered Veterinary Nurse who qualified in August 2007 at Alcombe Veterinary Surgery, Whitton and her favourite parts of the job here at Ewell, is assisting with surgery. Nikki has a special interest in equine nursing and hopes to achieve the qualifications for this in the future. Other goals are to become an assessor for student veterinary nurses and to work towards a Head Nurse position. Relaxation and hobbies include horse riding at a competitive level and socialising with friends.
**Names of cats (rescued?)
and horse.
Receptionist Coordinator Rachel Manning
Rachel has been working
at North Lodge since July 1991, having first joined us as a work experience
student. She is responsible for the very hectic position of co-ordinating
reception, which at times requires several pairs of hands and two heads!
However, she really enjoys the variety that each day brings and meeting
all the clients.
In the past she has worked with wildlife animals and today is kept very
busy with her own pets Alfie the Affenpinscher, Bud the German Shepherd,
Moss a Jack Russell Terrier Cross, and Pumpkin the cat. Rachel is married
with two children Maisy and Toby, and enjoys spending time with her family..
Receptionist Sue Ashforth
Life at the front desk
can be pretty hectic at times answering telephones, assisting clients, vets
and nursing staff but Sue's experience of veterinary practice life, ensures
that the reception runs smoothly. She has worked at all our branches during
her nine years with us, but is now settled permanently here at Ewell.
Sue has eight cats and Katie, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. In her spare
time she co-runs Kittikatz Rescue. This invaluable voluntary organisation
does great work to rescue and re-home cats. So anyone wishing to give a
loving home to a needy cat should contact the surgery for details.

Vet
Sam Price
Sam
began his career with us as a temporary vet in October 2008 and he loved
it so much that we let him stay! Qualifying from Edinburgh in 2002, Sam
in the past has worked for the animal charities Dogs Trust, RSPCA and through
his travels has also experienced how vets work in different countries.
He has an equal interest in small animal medicine and surgery and when we
asked him what his favourite part of the job was, he replied " Working
closely with people and their animals. You can't beat a friendly chat and
the feeling that we are all doing the best for someone's pet." Sam's
future goals are to continue his advancement in all fields of general practice,
getting to know his clients and to generally be happy. He is very keen on
rugby, enjoys climbing, socialising with friends in London and keeping fit
by running, cycling and going to the gym.
