Gareth Morris
BSc(Hons) MSc BVMS MRCVS
Gareth qualified
from Edinburgh University in 2000. He first joined us as a locum in October
2007 and became a permanent team member in April 2008. Gareth really likes
to get to know his clients and their pets and is very keen to see his patient
cases through from beginning to end. He enjoys all aspects of general practice,
and has recently begun studying for a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary
Practice (General Practice) Cert AVP (GP).
So far Gareth's veterinary career has been varied and busy. He has travelled
around the globe to such place as Botswana for voluntary work, locumed in
Australia and made several trips to Portugal, where he plans to return this
year, with the charity The Kismet Account, neutering cats and dogs. Unusual
animals are also on his list of veterinary care including various exotics,
reptiles, zoo animals and wildlife - quite a change from his childhood pets
of goldfish and stick insects!
Gareth lives locally and his hobbies are rowing on a social basis, although
he did compete in the sport for nearly 20 years, gym and skiing.
Nurse
Denii Barter VN
Denii
has a particular interest in medical nursing and animal behaviour. She qualified
from MYF Aldershot in January 2006 and since February 2008 has been part
of the O'Meara team here at Chessington. Future plans are to further her
skills in animal behaviour. Her favourite part of the job is caring for
patients in a hospital environment before and after surgery, along with
grooming, feeding and general nursing care. So far Denii's nursing career
has given her a few unusual experiences as she has assisted with the castration
of an Alpaca, the removal of a lump from a snake and sedating a goldfish
that had gravel stuck in its mouth!
She lives locally, but enjoys trips back home to Southampton to visit family
and friends and for relaxation she likes camping and sunny holidays.
